METHODS OF PAYMENT

Don't stand in line! You can now use banking services, the telephone or the Internet to pay your student account directly.

Confirm the amount owed by consulting your account in "My finances" in your uoZone student portal.

The following are acceptable payment methods for University fees:

  • Online and telebanking (recommended)
    • New: Every time you make an electronic payment to the University, you receive an automated e-mail confirming the reception of your payment, including the details of your payment.
  • Debit
  • Bank-to-bank transfer for international students
    • New: Travelex bank-to-bank transfer for international student

      Service Interruption : Computing and Communications Services are performing maintenance activities on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday February 26. As a result, the Travelex bank-to-bank transfer for international students will be unavailable during this time.

Avoid line-ups. Pay by Internet or phone. It's easy and convenient. Contact your financial institution today to set up your uOttawa bill payment account. Important: your student number is your account number.

A separate invoice account must be opened for each student. The payment is applied to the account of the person whose student number appears on the bank transaction.

Your financial institution will ask you for the name and account number of the invoice you want to pay. The name of the invoice is University of Ottawa and the invoice account number is your student number.

If your financial institution does not provide this service, you can make telephone or Internet payments through TelPay. For more information, go to the company's site at www.telpay.ca. For all these payment methods, your student number serves as the reference or account number.

Home banking or Internet payments are usually credited to student accounts within three working days of the transaction. Please expect a longer delay during registration period. If you make your payment before the published deadline and the University receives it after the deadline, no penalties will be applied if a complete proof of payment is provided.

NEW: Every time you make an electronic payment to the University, you receive an automated e-mail confirming the reception of your payment, including the details of your payment.

Payment at your financial institution: You can also go to your bank in person to pay your University fees. Remember to bring your invoice or statement of account. Your receipt is your payment confirmation.

Debit: You can pay by debit at InfoService, you may need to contact your financial institution to temporarily increase your spending limit.

Cheque, money order, bank draft: You can deposit your cheque, money order or bank draft in the “Express Payment” drop box at InfoService located in Tabaret building (75 Laurier Ave. E).

Bank-to-bank transfer for international students:  If you’re an international student, the most efficient way to pay your student fees is through Travelex’s bank-to-bank transfer. This option allows you to pay the Canadian-dollar student fees in the currency of your choice.  

You can choose to make a payment to the University of Ottawa by selecting the Travelex bank-to-bank transfer for international students option either through uoZone under My finances or through the link on this page. This brings you to a secure website where you receive instructions on how to complete the payment to a local bank in your preferred currency.

The Canadian dollar amount is converted at a competitive rate of exchange into your chosen currency through the Travelex real-time rate engine. You’ll be able to view the payable amount in your local currency before committing to the transaction. To proceed, simply click on OK and the instructions for making the payment will appear.

The amount you transfer to the University of Ottawa must be only for tuition fees and other charges in the student fee account, and not for living expenses. Consult your e-bill or statement of account on uoZone for updated information on your student account. The University of Ottawa reserves the right to hold for a subsequent session any funds sent in excess of tuition and other university fees.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR STUDENT PAYMENT

Step 1: Go to My finances on uoZone and select Bank-to-bank transfer for international students.

Step 2:  Process the payment.

  • Your student details (name, student number) are automatically entered.
  • Enter the amount of Canadian dollars to be paid.
  • Select the currency for the payment.*
  • Finalize the transaction.

Step 3: Initiate the bank transfer.

  • Take the confirmation page to your local bank.
  • Your bank then transfers the funds to Travelex.

Step 4: Receive your payment confirmation.

The University of Ottawa posts the Canadian-dollar equivalent in your student account and sends a confirmation to your @uOttawa email account.

HOW TO MAKE A STUDENT PAYMENT FROM A THIRD PARTY

Step 1: Select Bank-to-bank transfer for international students.

Step 2: Process the payment.

  • Enter the student details (name, student number); please be sure to double-check the student information to ensure the payment is credited to the correct student account.
  • Enter the amount of Canadian Dollars to be paid.
  • Select the currency for the payment.*
  • Finalize the transaction.

Step 3: Initiate the bank transfer.

  • Take the confirmation page to your local bank.
  • Your bank then transfers the funds to Travelex.

Step 4: Receive your payment confirmation.

  • The University of Ottawa posts the Canadian-dollar equivalent in the student account and sends a confirmation to the student’s @uottawa email account.

*If your local currency is not an option in the list, you need to choose another currency to arrange your bank-to-bank transfer.

Please note that the exchange rate quoted is valid for 72 hours from the time indicated on the payment instruction you'll receive after clicking the Submit button. During this time, you or the payer must take the instructions to your bank, which will initiate the transfer of funds through Travelex to the University of Ottawa. Travelex must receive your payment within 72 hours of your having received the applicable currency quote. If Travelex receives your payment after the 72-hour period, the company uses the current exchange rate to convert the currency.

Don't have a bank account or you need a bank close by?

Simply bring your University of Ottawa invoice to the National Bank branch at 232 Rideau Street. They will accept your payment, stamp your invoice as proof of payment and transfer your payment to the University of Ottawa. Please note that a $2 administrative fee will apply

Methods of payment not accepted at the University of Ottawa

Credit card and cash payments:

Credit card or cash payments are not accepted for the payment of University fees. However, you can pay by credit card or cash at your bank. A credit card payment is considered cash advance.
