GRACE PERIODS FOR FINANCIAL AID STUDENTS

If you are waiting for government financial aid and cannot pay your tuition fees by the due date, you can be granted a grace period without late charges or interest fees, under the following conditions:

Government financial aid recipients – Ontario

You must apply online for government financial aid through the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP) and forward your signature pages (and all supporting documents) to the Financial Aid and Awards Service before June 30, 2012, for the fall session, and before October 31, 2012, for the winter session. You can submit your documents by email (loansandawards@uottawa.ca), by fax (613-562-5155), in person and by mail (85 University, Room 102, Ottawa ON  K1N 6N5).

Government financial aid recipients – Other provinces and territories

You must apply for your government financial aid and inform the Financial Aid and Awards Service by email (loansandawards@uottawa.ca) before June 30, 2012, for the fall session, and before October 31, 2012, for the winter session, that you have requested government financial aid.

The grace period is valid until September 28, 2012, for the fall session and January 31, 2013 for the winter session.

If your tuition fees remain unpaid after these extension dates, a late-payment penalty and interest will apply, even if you still haven’t received your government loan or bursary. The University cannot take responsibility for delays that are beyond its control.

As the recipient of a government loan, you agree to use the loan to pay your university fees first. For more information, please consult the Financial Aid and Awards website.
